Experimental confirmation of high-temperature phase boundaries in the nickel-rich part of Ni-Al-Cr system

Abstract Precise determination of the course phase boundaries is particularly important for alloys operating at elevated temperatures. In case multi-component materials such as nickel superalloys, computational methods are often used this purpose. They based on binary and ternary systems require reliable experimental data. Commonly research determining temperature have a number limitations it difficult to interpret their results without support other studies. This work presents series experiments confirm γ′/(γ′ + γ) (γ′ γ)/γ in Ni-Al-Cr system, 600 °C. For purpose, from Ni-rich part Ni–Al-Cr system was prepared by vacuum induction melting (VIM) casting into graphite mold under an argon protective atmosphere. Samples after machining were subjected compression tests using Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator room well directly °C pre-heating 1100 Stress–strain curves various character obtained associated with appropriate structure confirmed X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The relationship between studied mechanical properties has been proven. Compression compared hardness measurements, high-temperature calorimetric solution method differential thermal analysis (DTA). showed very good agreement terms boundary system.
